Where do we need help?

We’ve sold a million shoes, launched three groundbreaking materials, and changed how people think about comfort, design, and retail. Now we’re taking the Allbirds in-store experience across the country and are looking for seasoned and impactful retail leaders to execute on that mission.

General

The Assistant Store Leader will coach, train and model service and operational standards to their team and to assist the Store Leader in all aspects of running retail operations for the business and achieving targets and results.  You openly share your knowledge of products, your passion for the community and your efforts to protect the environment. You contribute to the success of the team through customer service, teamwork, merchandising, operations, events, and environmental activism. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Store Leader in the execution of business plans to achieve all operational and financial targets.
  • Use sound judgment to effectively allocate and manage resources, such as labor and inventory, in order to achieve targets.
  • Actively contribute to meeting the team’s sales goals and NPS targets, leading by example.
  • Hold team members accountable for fulfilling their role responsibilities, such as following SOPs and adhering to time & attendance and dress code policies.
  • Help recruit Floor Leads and Retail Ambassadors and assist in training and onboarding new-hires.
  • Cultivate an engaging and empowering team culture based on our values and mission. 
  • Explore thoughtful and creative ways to motivate the team, celebrate shared wins, and recognize individual contributions.
  • Ensure that your team is providing customers with engaging and personalized try-on experiences.
  • Execute on store operations, including, but not limited to:
    • opening and closing procedures
    • store appearance, cleanliness, and organization
    • cash count and control
    • ensuring a safe and healthy work environment 
    • ensuring store compliance with all State and Federal laws and regulations

More practical skills needed:

  • High school diploma required; Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred but not required
  • 3+ years of retail experience, fashion or footwear is a plus
  • 1+ year of management experience in a retail environment
  • Proficient in retail math for pricing and inventory management
  • Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to adapt quickly to ambiguity and allocate time to execute multiple tasks & changing priorities

Physical Requirements*

  • Able to stand/walk for extended periods of time on the sales floor
  • Continually able to reach overhead, bend, squat, kneel and carry products necessary for customer service, inventory stocking, and store merchandising
  • Able to regularly perform store maintenance duties: sweep, vacuum, empty trash, clean, dust, etc.
  • Use of iPads, computers, POS devices
  • Able to safely lift boxes up to 30 pounds
  • Comfortable climbing ladders
  • Depending on location, going up and down stairs

What can we offer?

The Allbirds pay range for the role is up to - $75,000.00 depending on knowledge, skills and level of experience. 

Allbirds routinely evaluates pay rates, and the ranges are subject to change based on market rates and other factors. We factor in a number of components when determining starting pay, including the job and level you are hired into, location/metropolitan area, skillset, and peer compensation.
