Salary Range:

$162,000.00 - $191,000.00

What’s the role?

The Inventory and Fulfillment systems group at Etsy creates the foundation for the most fulfilling fulfillment experience by enabling transparency and trust for our buyers while highlighting the human side of our sellers and their unique items.

In this team, you'll closely follow the latest research and implement its best ideas efficiently, at scale for the benefit of Etsy's buyers and sellers. Working hands-on with a cross-disciplinary team, you will help ship robust production models that will be A/B tested live on Etsy.com! Does helping people find the perfect handmade or vintage good from using the latest ML research sound exciting to you? If so, we could be the perfect match.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager, Fulfillment ML. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What does the day-to-day look like?

• Collaborate with Machine Learning engineers and drive technical strategy that meets business and product needs. For example, guiding teams to find the right balance between new model development and infrastructure complexity.

• Serve as an advocate for making Fulfillment Data like Estimated Delivery Dates accessible across Etsy.

• Gain insights through research, data analysis, and our A/B tests.

• Push code to production early and often using our continuous deployment systems.

• Build and maintain observability and test tooling - logging, monitoring, distributed tracing, alerting and offline test tools.

• You will mainly focus on backend technologies, including PHP, MySQL, BigQuery, GCS, Memcache, Gearman, and more.

• You will ensure systems are maintainable and expandable by others to prevent single points of failure for both systems and people.

• You will move the business forward in unknown problem spaces with creative solutions backed in proofs of concept.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• You have experience with back-end technologies like PHP, MySQL, Memcache
