Job Description Summary

Operational Risk Management (ORM) – Data Risk is part of Citi’s second line of defense (2LoD). Our mission is to drive comprehensive and consistent practices designed to identify, measure, monitor, report and manage operational risks while promoting the implementation of actions to address root causes which may lead to unintended operational losses.

ORM-Data Risk consists of experienced professionals who apply subject matter expertise to objectively evaluate, independently oversee, and constructively challenge first line of defense (1LoD) teams, governance, processes and controls.

Responsibilities:

• The Data Project Execution Risk Oversight Risk Officer role will coordinate a central function advancing internal program management for oversight of the firm's data program as well as contribute to challenge of project execution of this program. The ideal candidate will be well versed in risk management and data governance with experience in these domains across the lines of defense.
• Facilitates coordination largely by leading by influence across an broad team of data risk officer subject matter experts and leaders executing a diverse set of risk reviews.
• Builds key stakeholder relationships to ensure comprehensive representation in the creation of pragmatic and executable strategies for improving Citi’s data risk posture.
• Facilitates accurate and appropriate reporting of operational risks to senior management and regulators. Demonstrated experience in regulatory or internal oversight engagement.
• Appropriately assess risk when business/function decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

• 6-10 years minimum professional experience at a global financial institution or similarly regulated entity. Minimum of 3 years in an operational risk or risk-focused data governance role. Transformation experience desired.
• Demonstrated success in managing risk during program and project execution in alignment with industry standards and norms. 
• Background in Data Governance, Technology, and/or Program Management/OperationalRisk/Enterprise Risk Management in related disciplines.
• Previous experience defining program/project requirements based on Supervisory engagement.
• Exceptional influence skills in driving organizational change and leading teams across reporting lines.
• Proven skills in leadership and strategic planning.
• Knowledge of principles of the data management lifecycle and data governance, in general.
• Outstanding communication and influencing skills through all levels of the organization and with external partners and vendors. Exceptional relationship management skills; must be able to address and resolve conflict while maintaining relationships. In depth knowledge of operational processes and technology platforms supporting Citi's data operations. Ability to effectively communicate complex topics to a broad audience.

Education:

• Bachelor’s/University degree,
• Advanced degree (e.g. LLB, MSc, MBA) or Certifications (e.g. FRM, PRM, CDMP) a plus
• Advanced knowledge of the data-related regulatory environment strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of data management, data governance, data quality or related data concepts (DAMA, DMBOK) preferred.
