Your Impact
Axon is on a mission to protect life and make the bullet obsolete. As we scale our next-generation products—spanning TASER devices, body cameras, sensors, and advanced drone technology—we are investing heavily in global manufacturing capabilities. As the Senior Director of Manufacturing Expansion, you will lead the planning, execution, and optimization of new manufacturing sites to support our rapid growth. Your leadership will be critical in driving speed, quality, and scalability across Axon’s global production footprint.
What You’ll Do
Location: Onsite at one of our facilities in Phoenix, Arizona (ability to travel up to 50%)
Reports to: SVP, Global Manufacturing Operations
Direct Reports: TBD
- Lead Manufacturing Expansion Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for Axon’s manufacturing footprint expansion in North America and internationally. Drive end-to-end technical execution of new site launches, enforce scalable factory standards, and ensure cross-functional readiness.
- Site Selection & Launch: Spearhead site identification, evaluation, and build-out—from greenfield construction to brownfield renovations.
- Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate with R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, Facilities, Finance, and Legal to align on expansion priorities and risk mitigation strategies.
- Operationalize New Sites: Oversee all aspects of site ramp-up including layout design, hiring plans, tooling, automation, regulatory approvals, and go-live readiness.
- Performance Metrics: Establish KPIs for startup efficiency, throughput, cost, quality, and employee safety.
- Integrate Acquisitions: Lead post-close assessments and drive alignment of acquired sites and CMs to Axon’s manufacturing systems and practices.
What You Bring
- 15+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in multi-site or international expansion leadership or equivalent experience
- Proven success in launching new high-tech or electromechanical manufacturing facilities at scale.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, automation, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Working knowledge of finance, accounting, supply chain, logistics, and regulatory frameworks related to factory setup.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, including international sites.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
