This position will be at the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute and Concussion Clinic located at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix. Whether patients have back pain, joint issues, torn ligaments or a complex fracture, we treat all injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Our doctors use advanced surgical and minimally invasive techniques to reduce pain and get them moving.

Ideal candidate will possess sideline coverage with high school, college or professional level teams and/or any prior clinical experience. You will be given autonomy with direct support from the physicians and other clinical Athletic Trainers within the BUMG group. Position provides standard hours with some weekend and evening event responsibilities.  You will have exposure to all levels of athletes from club to professional and treat a variety of patient populations and age groups.  There is an opportunity to obtain the ROT certification through Banner. Requires BOC and valid athletic trainer license issued in the state of AZ plus Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.  

This is a full time, day shift, Monday-Friday 8:00A-5:00P, some weekends and evenings. Travel required to: 1320 N 10th St., Phoenix, AZ 85006, 755 E McDowell Rd, Phoenix, Az 85006, 7400 N Dobson Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85256, and 4200 E Camelback Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85018. Will require AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position administers athletic training services in a community or clinic setting under the supervision of a supervising physician. These services include, but are not limited to, school screenings, injury prevention programs, athletic consults, injury assessment, and treatment and case management of injured athletes/clients undergoing rehabilitation. This position frequently attends practices and games for area schools and athletic clubs and community athletic events.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Evaluates injuries and develops treatment and exercise plans within the scope of practice. Re-evaluates treatment plans, as needed, to ensure maximum patient benefit.

2. Implements individualized therapeutic interventions, and monitors responses to therapy to ensure client safety. Reports progress and medical changes to referring physician or appropriate medical provider.

3. Educates clients, families, and coaches regarding injuries, risk factor modification, and exercise programs. Provides evaluation and treatment of medical and musculoskeletal pathology consistent with the scope and practice of athletic training clinical competencies as defined by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the State’s Board of Athletic Training.

4. Conducts injury screening clinics, educational programs, and workshops to promote safety and injury prevention.

5. Documents patient treatment according to professional and regulatory standards.

6. Has autonomy to determine how to best accomplish functions within established procedures and scope of practice. Confers with supervisor on any unusual situations.
