The Role

The Senior Manager of Applied AI and Automation is an integral part of the AI and Analytics team, tasked with the exploration, development, and implementation of AI and automation technologies. This role aims to enhance innovation and efficiency within the Corporate Brand and Marketing department.

Reporting directly to the Director of AI and Analytics, this person combines deep technical expertise in generative AI platforms, prompt engineering, and automation tools with strong marketing operations experience to identify opportunities, implement solutions, and scale successful AI and automation initiatives department wide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute on AI and automation strategies with clear timelines, implementation plans, and measurable value targets.
  • Build and maintain AI prompts, prompt libraries, AI agents, chatbots, automation scripts and automation workflows directly to deliver consistent, high-quality results.
  • Create custom integrations between AI tools and existing marketing systems
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting of AI implementations
  • Identify AI integration opportunities through team surveys, process analysis, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Research and evaluate emerging AI technologies and assess their potential impact on marketing and operational capabilities.
  • Monitor and optimize AI agent performance using data analytics and user feedback.
  • Rapidly prototype and test AI solutions.
  • Follow and implement AI governance guidelines, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, ethical standards, and corporate policies.
  • Work with approved vendors to implement solutions, ensuring capabilities meet organizational requirements.
  • Establish partnerships and collaborate with corporate brand/marketing, McKesson Technology, and other teams across the organization to implement AI and automation solutions.
  • Create technical documentation, user guides, and standard operating procedures in support of AI pilots.
  • Promote successful AI and automation pilots to teams across the enterprise.
  • Develop and deliver hands-on training programs that inspire technology adoption and foster a culture of innovation.
  • Collaborate with business process owners to map, test, and refine AI-enhanced workflows.

Qualifications

Critical Skills

  • Expertise with generative AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, Google Gemini) and advanced proficiency in prompt engineering across multiple disciplines (writing, programming, image generation, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio platform, including agent development and deployment
  • Development experience with APIs, integrations, automation workflows (Zapier, Workato), version control, and deployment processes
  • Programming proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and other scripting languages, plus hands-on experience with database queries and data transformation
  • Technical acumen to evaluate, integrate, and optimize AI tools across various platforms and business processes
  • Proven track record of leading experimental AI and automation projects from proof-of-concept through production deployment, with demonstrated rapid prototyping capabilities
  • Strong collaboration and change management skills with experience working effectively in matrix organizations and building strategic partnerships
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on AI and automation technologies
  • Experience navigating vendor relationships, including corporate procurement and budget man
