Under the direction of the Director of Early Childhood Services, the Early Childhood Clinician will provide screenings, assessments, treatment planning, and individual and family therapy to preschool-aged children (2-5 years).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide screenings, assessments, treatment planning, and individual and family therapy to preschool-aged children (2-5 years).
  • Participate in weekly department and team meetings, communicating any client needs with the treatment team and providing feedback and/or consultation to any treatment member as needed.
  • Complete documentation for services within 24 hours of services.
  • Manage your schedule, including scheduling assessments and sessions and rescheduling any cancellations or make-up appointments.
  • Report weekly productivity.
  • Collaboration with community-based preschool education providers, which may include clinical observations and providing guidance based on children’s mental health needs.
  • Utilize appropriate evidence-based practices (PCIT and CPP).
  • Submit timely documentation of services provided using Electronic Health Records and collaborative documentation.
  • Manage time and caseload effectively.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hold a Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or other related mental health field.
  • Hold a valid license to practice in your state of employment, which includes maintaining all necessary continuing education requirements (LPC, LCSW, LMFT)
  • At least one year of experience providing mental health services to children under the age of 6.
  • Meet dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled
  • Complete work within the designated time.
  • Attend all necessary staff meetings.
  • Ensures confidentiality of patient's records
  • Consistently reliable internet access for any telehealth provisions.
  • Additional training, including Infant Toddler Mental Health Post-Graduate Certification or equivalent training, is a plus.
  • Experience in providing therapeutic services to young children and their caregivers, as well as PCIT and CPP, is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL: 

  • The clinician will have ample knowledge of typical and atypical early childhood development.
  • The clinician will be able to utilize and implement evidence-based practices related to early childhood mental health.
  • As a clinician, you need to display empathy, or the ability to look at the client/family’s situation from their perspective to understand their experience.
  • The client needs to trust that the clinician will maintain confidentiality, respect their experiences, and withhold judgment. By building a sense of trust, the clinician helps the client feel at ease as they share personal and difficult feelings and information.
  • As an early childhood clinician a vital part of your job is to help clients feel heard, respected, and validated. One way to do this is through active listening, which may include eye contact, nodding, facial expressions, and body language.
