Job Summary

The Warehouse Manager is essential for overseeing and optimizing the performance of a warehouse, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. This role involves leadership and team integration to maintain a cohesive and productive work environment. It also plays a critical part in upholding safety standards and ensuring the highest quality of service, which directly impacts customer satisfaction and operational success. Ultimately, the Warehouse Manager is the owner of the facility and is responsible for everything within the walls of the warehouse, taking action or collaborating cross-functionally when appropriate.

Responsibilities

Safety

  • Maintain a safe and clean warehouse compliant to OSHA standards
  • Champion a culture of safety in the workplace
  • Address and investigate safety incidents as applicable in a timely manner according to company standards

Quality

  • Follow established safety procedures to ensure Bird riders are on the safest vehicles
  • Uphold the global Bird standard of quality on vehicle repair, maintenance, and refurbishment to ensure riders experience a safe and reliable vehicle on the street

Productivity 

  • Execute daily operations to achieve repair targets to fulfill planned outbound shipments on time
  • Create Mechanic shift schedules and ensure adequate mechanic team coverage
  • Onboard, train, and lead a team of Mechanics while assigning daily tasks as needed and ensuring workflow is efficient.
  • Set and uphold standards for productivity: repairs and book time
  • Performance manage mechanics to address issues with productivity, attendance, or attitude. Provide feedback to the management team on team performance. 
  • Model and promote a culture of teamwork and hustle 
  • Drive process creation and improvement to continuously improve productivity and throughput
  • Collaborate globally to adopt and/or scale process improvements that improve end product

Inventory management: 

  • Manage vehicle inventory processes such as check-in, scrap, and hard counts
  • Cycle charge in-warehouse vehicles to prevent battery degradation during storage
  • Audit and maintain healthy levels of spare parts and tools to ensure team productivity

Reporting: 

  • Ensure work order compliance across creation, repair logging, and quality checks throughout the vehicle repair lifecycle 
  • Accurately track and report productivity numbers and KPIs daily 
  • Own KPI improvement at the mechanic and facility level
  • All other duties as assigned

Must Haves

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends if needed
  • 3-5 years previous experience of managing and maintaining a warehouse environment with direct people management
  • Knowledge and process experience for working towards KPIs
  • Process improvement experience- (lean, continuous improvement preferable)
  • Strong mechanical experience preferred
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Excellent time management, communication, and organization skills
  • Ability to be both self-directed and work well in a team environment
  • Comfortable learning and adapting to new concepts and using new tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform quick and efficient repairs
  • Self-motivat
