The F135 Program Digital Solutions team is thrilled to offer an opportunity for an Associate Director, Software Engineer Manager. In this role, you will lead a team of F135 Software Engineers and provide discipline guidance to digital solution development in support of the F135 Program. This existing talented team is comprised of individuals who are assigned to agile teams that design, develop, integrate, and test digital solutions including full-stack web apps, mobile apps, and data products that enable the F135 Program to meet strategic objectives. In addition to technical leadership, you will also play a key role in creating a positive team culture, in guiding the team members to excel in the Agile operating model, and in supporting the career growth of your software engineers.
What You Will Do
Lead the Software Development practice, providing vision, direction, and mentorship to a team of Software Engineers, fostering a positive software development culture of excellence in line with Pratt & Whitney values, CORE Operating System, and the Leadership Operating Model
Support the performance and career development of all team members, providing constructive feedback and coaching while sharing your passion for software engineering best practices, new tools, processes, and standards
Evaluate, recommend, and implement new processes, policies, standards or operating plans in support of strategic objectives
Collaborate with Product Owners and the Product Manager of the agile teams that your employees are assigned to, and the Stakeholders of those teams, to define scope, requirements, deliverables, and to drive compliance with RTX guidelines for authorized solution deployment (Architecture Review Board (ARB), Authority to Operate (ATO), CLARA, etc)
Partner with other Platform and Enablement teams across PW who are building foundational digital capabilities so that your development requirements are well understood and supported by what they develop
Support the Product Owners and Product Manager in the communication of software status, issues, risks, and opportunities to audiences including team leadership, Program leadership, and external customers
Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM field) and 12 years of computer science, software engineering, and or program management experience or an Advanced Degree with 10 years of experience
5 years’ experience with software engineering and DevOps
Demonstrated experience leading and working in an Agile environment
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. ( US DoD Secret clearance.) U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship
Ability to travel to quarterly planning meetings
Qualifications We Prefer
People management experience leading and mentoring software engineers or data engineers in an Agile environment, including career discussions and creation of individual development plans
Experience collaborating with business stakeholders and DT on multi-disciplinary issues
A minimum of 5 years’ experience using technol
