Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure

Grammarly is excited to offer a remote-first hybrid working model. Team members work primarily remotely in the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, or Poland. Certain roles have specific location requirements to facilitate collaboration at a particular Grammarly hub.

All roles have an in-person component: Conditions permitting, teams meet 2–4 weeks every quarter at one of Grammarly’s hubs in San Francisco, Kyiv, New York, Vancouver, and Berlin, or in a workspace in Kraków. This flexible approach gives team members the best of both worlds: plenty of focus time along with in-person collaboration that fosters trust and unlocks creativity.

Grammarly team members in this role must be based in the United States or Canada, and they must be able to collaborate in person 2 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub(s) where the team is based.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Data Platform team and help us build a world-class data platform. Grammarly’s success depends on its ability to efficiently ingest over 60 billion daily events while using our systems to improve our product. Your impact

As a Software Engineer on the Data Infrastructure team, you will create engineering and analytical efficiencies as the owner of several crucial company-wide services. Our cutting-edge data lake is the central hub for all data producers and data consumers, so your impact will span all of Grammarly. You will have the opportunity to design and build sustainable and scalable systems.

Software engineers on the Data Infrastructure team are responsible for ingesting, processing, and serving over 30 billion daily events. Grammarly relies on this team to unlock efficiencies of scale, provide real-time data to other services, and maintain the highest standards of data security.

In this role, you will:

• Leverage AWS, write code, build data pipelines, and create brand-new systems while contributing to existing ones.
• Build and manage Grammarly’s central ingestion infrastructure.
• Work with partners (researchers, ML engineers, and others) across engineering teams to build tools that seamlessly incorporate data.
• Influence the big picture: make architectural decisions, research relevant technology, and plan for the future.
