The Product team is the team responsible for developing Cognite Data Fusion as a robust and scalable platform for solving industrial data problems at Cognite. The industrial data problem is at the heart of transforming asset-intensive industries to be safer, more sustainable and more profitable. Cognite’s Cognite Data Fusion makes the operational data available at scale and adds value to the data through data processing. This enables asset-intensive industries to make data-driven decisions. Our platform is built on many different technologies, each good at solving various challenges.
Role Summary:
We’re seeking a highly skilled and versatile Software Engineer to work on the FinOps team in the infrastructure department. This role is designed for a proactive and knowledgeable individual who is comfortable working across all parts of the tech stack. This includes infrastructure, frontend, and backend. The ideal candidate will excel in a collaborative environment, demonstrating a strong ability to proactively reach out to various teams within the company to collaborate on optimizing cloud consumption and drive significant cost savings.A strong candidate will enjoy getting their hands dirty writing code in multiple languages, as well as figuring out optimized infrastructure setups and consumption patterns.You will be a technical nomad. Optimizing, learning and teaching across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with product teams across the organization to understand cloud usage patterns and identify optimisation opportunities; both technical and functional.
• Develop and implement tools and processes for monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting cloud spending across GCP, AWS, and Azure.
• Work closely with development teams to optimize application performance and reduce cloud costs without impacting service quality.
• Participate in the design and deployment of scalable and efficient cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Lead initiatives to educate teams on best practices for cloud cost management and efficiency.
• Drive a culture of cost-awareness and financial accountability within the tech department.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of frontend and backend systems as needed.
• Provide regular reports and insights on cloud spending trends, optimization efforts, and cost-saving achievements.

Required experience:

• Experience with one or multiple of the major cloud providers, GCP, AWS, Azure
• Fluent in one or more backend oriented languages like Go, Kotlin, Python, Rust (and an eagerness to learn whatever is needed to get the job done)
• SQL databases from a major vendor such as Postgres, Oracle, …
• Previous experience with managing the cost of cloud resources
• Building and maintaining dashboards with tools such as Graphana, PowerBI or similar
