JOB SUMMARY: Assists in the supervision of HVAC personnel and programs, insuring quality and quantity of work produced. Grows knowledge base of technicians. Flexible work hours are required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.

  • Oversees HVAC technicians with regard to inspections, troubleshooting and repair of HVAC equipment. [Daily, 45%]
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies. Assists in the supervision of all HVAC personnel, insuring quality and quantity of work produced, to include hiring, coaching, evaluations, discipline and termination. [Daily, 10%]
  • Works on a one-on-one basis to train new HVAC technicians and ensure safe practices. [Daily, 10%]
  • Coordinates and oversees the operation of the preventative maintenance program on all mechanical equipment. [Daily, 5%]
  • Responds to and resolves all HVAC/Plumbing/Refrigeration after-hours emergency calls. [Daily, 5%]
  • Assists HVAC supervisor and environmental specialist with all air quality programs, including air balance, testing, air flow calculations etc. [Weekly, 5%]
  • Coordinates and assists in the installation of all energy management systems. Maintains current files and AS Built's. Monitors systems for proper operation of all EMS programs such as Demand limiting, time control, duty cycling, etc. [Weekly, 5%]
  • Oversees layout and fabrication of air distribution systems. Performs installations as required. [Monthly, 5%]
  • Coordinates testing and maintains water treatment program making adjustments as needed. [Monthly, 5%]
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%] 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThe minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and building automation systems (BAS)/building management system (BMS)/direct digital control (DDC) systems experience
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and/or shifts
  • Must provide after-hours contact information for emergencies
  • Must meet insurability requirements of the Colorado School District Self Insurance Pool
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire

MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: The minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position

  • Colorado driver’s license; Commercial driver’s license is preferred
  • Universal certification in Refrigerant Handling
