Laboratory Clerk - Pathology - Mount Sinai Morningside - Full Time/Days (8am - 4pm incl wknds & hol)

Performs clerical and other tasks relating to the processing and generation of laboratory results within and outside of the hospital
1. Specimen handling, receiving, labeling, spinning, pouring, and dispensing to technologist
2. Enters demographics into instruments and computer for accessioning purposes
3. Transports specimens and/or requisitions and reports within the site and between sites
4. Prepares specimens for sending out to private labs
5. Collects and sorts all reports for delivery intra site and site to site
6. Maintains written logs (temperature charts, STAT delivery logs, centrifuge cleaning, and downtime logs)
7. Performs maintenance of all lab information systems and CPA laboratory equipment
8. Maintains files (daily filing, rotation of files, and transport of files)
9. Collects and sorts all reports in preparation for pick-up by messengers
10. Generates blood collection
11. Routinely works rotating weekends
12. Maintains continued compliance with policies, procedures, and record keeping necessary to meet the standards of accrediting agencies
13. Covers Inquiry desk as needed
14. Meets criteria for competency assessment in all areas
15. Observes established safety practices
16. Completes documents for Quality Assurance reviews
17. Performs general housekeeping duties as assigned to maintain a safe and sanitary environment
18. Maintains a clean and orderly work area
19. Performs work assignment within expected standard of performance
- High school Diploma or equivalent required
- College preferred
- Laboratory experience preferred

Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $24.89 - $27.37 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
