Logistics Manager Receiving Department

About the Role:

Manages and monitors performance of one major function in the Distribution center (which may include Shipping, Receiving, Returns and/or Inventory). Ensures standards of measurement for department are maintained and implements policies and procedures to reduce cost, enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality of work. Ensures enforcement of safety codes, OSHA standards and sound housekeeping practices within the department.

What You'll Do

• Manage Activities: Oversee the activities related to your designated function (e.g., shipping, receiving, returns, inventory control) within the distribution center.

• Work Procedures: Develop and implement work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow.

• Instruction: Provide written and verbal instructions to team members.

• Coaching and Mentoring: Guide and mentor associates to improve their performance, manage daily labor and costs, and ensure departmental SLAs are met.

• Team Management: Lead associates to meet LC goals, create programs for retention, training, and development, and apply communication and motivational techniques effectively.

• Training Coordination: Organize training for both new and existing associates.

• Customer Service: Manage the customer service aspect of the facility to ensure order accuracy and timely shipment, addressing any customer or vendor issues.

• System Enhancements: Propose and implement improvements to systems for better operational efficiency, accuracy, and customer service.

• Safety and Housekeeping: Enforce safety codes, OSHA standards, and ensure proper housekeeping within the department.

• Payroll and Attendance: Reconcile payroll and attendance records, ensuring accuracy in Kronos records.

• Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned and meet attendance and punctuality standards.

• Facilitating Group Interactions: Lead and manage group meetings or discussions to ensure productive outcomes and resolve conflicts.

• Computer System Applications: Use various software applications (e.g., spreadsheets, word processors, databases) at an intermediate level for data management and reporting.

• Physical Capability: Lift and transport items weighing up to 50 lbs as required.

• Confidentiality: Maintain the privacy and security of sensitive information.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Relatable Experience: Relevant degree or substantial supervisory experience in a warehouse, distribution, or supply chain environment.

• Experience with Parcel Providers and Logistics: Knowledge of logistics processes, solutions, and experience with parcel delivery services.
