At USAG Fort Rucker, SA-TECH provides Range Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support services for live training of the Aviation Gunnery Range Complex (AGRC) for the Aviation Center of Excellence and Fort Rucker Military Installation. We also provide O&M Core Services that enable management and maintenance of training areas and ranges by integrating mission requirements with environmental requirements and sound land management practices under the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS) Directorate. The Fort Rucker Range and Training Complex encompasses roughly 60,000 acres across the Alabama counties of Dale and Coffee.
We are currently hiring an Engineering Tech II (Range Operations Safety) for the Firing Desk at the Fort Rucker Gunnery Range Complex, Fort Rucker, AL.
As part of our Range Operations team, you’ll need to be willing to work flexible schedules and adapt to changing situations. Your ability to cross-train and to be productive without direct supervision will be keys to success in this critical role.
Primary duties include (although others may be added as situations dictate):
- Maintain radio communications and daily journals for all activities to include accurately tracking personnel movement and work progress within the Fort Rucker Gunnery Range Complex.
- Enforce government regulations and safety procedures for Military/Civilian agencies conducting various training operations.
- Assist in the implementation of emergency actions, severe weather plans and environmental protection procedures.
- Assist with the maintenance and inspection of training areas, ranges and facilities, to include vegetation control.
- You will be operating a multitude of ground maintenance equipment.
- You will be performing Range Complex, Training Area, and Maintenance Compound security checks so specialized training in methods and techniques of protecting secure areas will be required.
Work Conditions:
- Conditions will vary and most work will be outdoors with temperature variations.
- Work will consist of 35% standing, 40% walking, 5% stooping, 10% reaching, 10% lifting.
- You will need to be able to lift up to, and in excess of, 35 lbs. on your own.
- Typical hours for this position are 0530 to 1400 Monday thru Friday, with a possibility of rotating shifts.
Requirements
Education/Experience/Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Effective Communication.
- Microsoft Office (or FormFlow equivalent) knowledge.
- Familiarity with the Range Facility Management Support Systems (RFMSS) is highly beneficial, but not required.
- Familiarity with Military range-related terminology and regulatory training procedures would also be beneficial, but also not required.
- An ability to operate a variety of ground maintenance equipment, such as mowers and blowers.
- An ability and willingness to work shifts.
- Firing Desk Certification is required within 30 days of hire.
- Current Alabama Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
- U.S. Citizenship is required and you must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) upon hire.
- All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
