About the role
Senior Electronics System Design Engineer / Field Application EngineerBe the bridge between customers and innovation
Why this role is exciting for you
Imagine working directly with some of the world’s most innovative technology companies — including close collaboration with leading semiconductor companies in Southern California — showing them how holographic displays can transform their products and redefine entire industries. At Swave Photonics, you won’t just be explaining chips. You’ll be guiding system architects and engineers in integrating our technology into complex SoC and processor architectures, helping partners unlock the impossible: true holographic visualization where digital content floats naturally in front of your eyes.
This is your chance to stand at the intersection of cutting-edge engineering and real-world adoption, shaping the future of immersive technology.
Your role: connecting customers with technology
As our Senior Electronics System Design Engineer / FAE, you will be the trusted technical partner for our customers. You’ll translate their needs into solutions, guide them in integrating our chips into their systems, and bring critical feedback back to our engineering and product teams. Your role ensures that Swave’s innovations not only work in the lab, but thrive in the real world.
What you will do
- Engage with customers to understand their technical challenges and system requirements.- Show how Swave’s holographic chips can be seamlessly integrated into their products.- Provide structured feedback from the field to our design, marketing, and product teams.- Coordinate collaboration with leading AR application processor suppliers and partners.- Travel about 20% of your time (mainly within the US, occasionally Asia) to build strong customer relationships.
Here, your expertise in SoC and processor architecture becomes the key to turning innovation into impact.
About Swave Photonics

At Swave, you’ll find:
- A culture built on authenticity, trust, and openness.- A small but ambitious team with a bias for action.- An environment where creativity and purpose drive everything we do.- Space to take ownership, experiment, and see your ideas come to life.
What you bring to the table
We know innovation thrives on diversity of experience and perspective. If you recognize yourself in most of the points below, we’d love to talk:
-Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electronics Engineering.- 10+ years of customer-facing experience in the semiconductor industry.- Deep knowledge of SoC and processor architecture, embedded systems, hardware/software integration, and system-level design.- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.- Skilled at analyzing customer requirements and proposing tailored solutions.- Proactive, hands-on problem solver with strong interpersonal skills.- Comfortable with travel (~20% US, occasionally Asia).- Collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills.- Fluent in English, spoken and written.
What we offer you
We believe the best work happens when people feel valued and inspired. That’s why we offer a competitive salary package tailored to your skills, expertise, and impact.
At Swave, you’ll work at the cutting edge of optics and semiconductors, where every customer engagement drives adoption of technology that changes the world. We know life doesn’t fit neatly into a 9-to-5 schedule, so we put results before hours — with flexibility and remote options where it makes sense. Our headquarters in Leuven, a city alive with technology, culture, and creativity, provides the perfect backdrop for innovation and connection.
Most importantly, you’ll be part of an informal and supportive team where authenticity matters. Here, you can bring your true self to work, share your ideas openly, and celebrate successes together.
