POSITION SUMMARY

 

Oversee the effective development, implementation, and management of all safety programs and processes, policies, communication efforts, reporting, administration and accident prevention in accordance with all internal company policies and guidelines, and all regulatory standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

1. Develop and implement site safety strategy, initiatives, and programs driving cultural change in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
2. Develop and maintain site safety policies and procedures based on current regulatory requirements.
3. Ensure thorough workplace accident investigations are conducted and that root causes analyses are developed and action items are tracked and followed up on to ensure timely completion.
4. Lead, manage, and develop the Occupational Safety staff ensuring appropriate staffing levels, organizational structure, and technical knowledge to support compliance and business objectives.
5. Lead initiatives that result in improved site safety performance while building the basis for continuous improvement.
6. Develop, schedule, and ensure completion of site safety audits to identify workplace hazards and corrective action implementation.
7. Collaborate with Corporate Safety to ensure site compliance with all corporate policies, directives, and guidance.
8. Lead all safety-related committees and coordinate all safety activities with departments and projects.
9. Develop and manage the Occupational Safety expense budget.
10. Perform all responsibilities as defined in previous job level.
11. Analyze locational Safety requirements, identifying deficiencies and potential opportunities, and develop innovative solutions to be implemented by the company.
12. Identify and interpret regulatory standards that impact operational exposures and business activities and guide needed plans to ensure compliance.
13. Develop and deliver local employee safety training, evaluate training effectiveness, and report results.
14. Investigate and research OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
15. Research and implement the benefit of ISO 45001 adoption, locally.
16. May be a member of the Corporate Safety internal audit team during the annual inspections of the North American sites.
     

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS & EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational or Industrial Safety, Safety Management, or related field.
2. Related post-education training; at least one certification such as CSP and CIH preferred.
3. Minimum of 10 years of progressive safety leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing or plasma environment.
4. Knowledge of regulatory requirements of local OSHA regulatory standards.
5. Ability to develop, strengthen and sustain productive and collaborative working relationships with all levels of site management and location.
6. Ability to lead cultural change across a site and experienced in leveraging multiple approaches to helping people adopt and implement sustained change.
7. Ability to drive local improvement activities and programs, leveraging processes, tools and best practices.
8. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster a cooperative work environment within site level communities of widely divergent technical and educational levels.
9. Skilled in investigation and problem solving including root cause analysis.
10. Excellent leadership skills.
11. Ability to effectively lead and manage direct reports and contract staff.
12. Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills.
13. Strong technical skills with demonstrated ability to develop safety procedures.
14. High degree of organizational skill.
