What You’ll Do:
- Architect the scalable, self-service data products for our BizOps, Claims, Servicing, and Sales groups
- Work closely with operating teams to understand their processes and needs, ingest structured and unstructured datasets, and create the analysis and reporting to answer key business questions and improve team performance
- Develop deep business understanding and proactively identify opportunities for data products to unblock, automate, uplevel, and redefine the business-critical reporting and data-driven management processes of the BizOps, Claims, Servicing, and Sales groups
- Partner with BizOps managers and operations executives to understand the impact of changes (both internal and external) on the performance of their teams
- Take a “maker” approach to development. Start scrappy, learn, identify the right long term solutions, and build/buy/deploy those solutions
- Become the subject matter expert on all things operational data. Identify gaps in logging and partner with engineering teams to close them
- Design, implement and deploy performant production data models into our ETL in partnership with our Data Engineering group
What We Need:
- 5+ years’ professional experience in a BI development / Analytics Engineer role
- Proven track-record of building/buying+implementing self-serve data systems
- Desire and capability to deeply understand the business critical operations functions at Next, what makes them succeed, and how they can efficiently access and leverage data-insights to catalyze their success
- Fluent in SQL and comfortable with less structured data formats such as JSON, SUPER, etc.
- Mastery of dashboarding and reporting tools such as Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, Domo, etc
- Fluent in data systems and ETL orchestration via DAGs, using management tools such as Airflow and scripting in Python
- Ability to define relevant metrics that can guide and influence stakeholders to the appropriate and accurate insights
- Expertise in translating business work processes into clear and easy to understand dashboards tailored to audiences of varying data-fluency
- Ability to communicate effectively to cross functional partners of varying technical levels
- Ability to be an educator: upleveling and training large xfn teams on how to use dashboards, reports, queries, and other data-tools effectively
- Experience influencing the operational strategy through analyses
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
Unstoppable Qualities:
- Experience in insurance or financial services
- Experience with claims adjusting and/or insurance agent operations
- Experience with vetting, negotiating, and implementing data reporting and dashboarding vendor software
- Experience with Zendesk, Salesforce, and payment systems data
The US annual base salary range for this full-time position is $106,000 - $197,000. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the location(s) listed. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including, without limitation, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
