Position Overview
The Vice President of Verisk Weather Solutions/PCS is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the performance and operational success of our business unit within the insurance and reinsurance industries. This role requires a deep understanding of technical and data-driven products, with an emphasis on weather-related services. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, a track record in managing dispersed teams of technical professionals, and the ability to drive results through collaboration across various centers of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Oversight: Develop and execute strategic plans for productivity enhancement, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and market demands.
- Operational Excellence: Direct and coordinate departmental activities concerning production, pricing, sales, and distribution.
- Policy Implementation: Collaborate with executive leadership to establish and enforce policies, goals, and procedures.
- Financial Stewardship: Manage the organization's financial activities, optimize investments, and seek efficiency gains.
- Market Adaptation: Understand and position the business unit to excel within the target market, conveying its unique value proposition both internally and externally.
- Management & Coaching: Lead and develop a team of middle managers, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Market Analysis: Continuously evaluate market trends and competitors to innovate and drive revenue growth.
- Budgeting: Oversee departmental budgets in collaboration with the Finance department.
- Leadership Development: Mentor the management team in strategic thinking and effective people management.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of business management, strategic planning, and resource allocation.
- Expertise in the insurance and reinsurance industries with a background or strong interest in meteorology.
- Proficiency in managing Sales, Marketing, Finance, IT, and HR operational processes.
- Proven experience in leading dispersed technical teams and managing highly technical, data-driven products.
- Customer-centric with a commitment to high service quality and satisfaction.
- Demonstrated ability in personnel management, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Well-versed in business and finance principles, with a keen understanding of market trends.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role within a profit and growth-focused business unit.
- Experience at an insurtech or software startup a plus

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required - emphasis in meteorology, science, or a related field a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Masters of Business Administration a plus.
