The Office of Student Life is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional to support financial operations, risk management, and strategic initiatives across our diverse business units. The Senior Business Services Specialist serves as a key member of the Student Life Financial Management team under the direction of the Director of Business Services. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence through business process improvement using Lean Six Sigma practices, developing key performance indicators (KPIs), and analyzing financial data to support decision-making. This role will independently lead and/or execute special projects assigned by SL Financial Management Leadership and Senior Fiscal Officer which may inform strategic decisions and optimize services. The ideal candidate will assist with internal audits, compliance reviews, and the development of financial controls to ensure effective and compliant business operations. This position also leads efforts in fiscal education, training, and resource development for staff across Student Life, while maintaining communication platforms and internal documentation systems. Additional responsibilities include supporting strategic planning, business continuity initiatives, and team engagement efforts, with the opportunity to supervise student employees. This is a dynamic role suited for a proactive and analytical individual who enjoys improving systems, empowering others through education, and contributing to a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Four (4) years of experience required in business operations, internal or external audit experience. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of management, external auditors, consultants, and affiliates. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Ability to prioritize with limited supervision. Strong detail orientation and critical thinking skills. Successful completion of background check.

Desired: Master of Business Administration or equivalent. 4-8 years of business operations or related experience preferred. Lean Six Sigma certification. Familiarity with accounting systems and procedures. Working knowledge of university policies and procedures. Experience performing data analysis.

The offer for this position will be based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
