The New Product Launch Engineer for Aurora is responsible for supporting the successful introduction of new automotive electronic products in a manufacturing environment. This role will support AURORA launches from development through Start of Production (SOP) and production ramp-up, as well as support product changes in series production. This role focuses on manufacturing readiness, process validation, cost control support, quality requirements, and cross-functional coordination to ensure launches meet quality, timing, and financial objectives. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes with structured launch discipline, financial awareness, and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional automotive environment.
- Responsible for cost, timing and quality of New Product Launch activities in the location;
- Primary interface between manufacturing and design teams;
- Involved with customer communications/meetings associated with NPL activities
- Ensure compliance to Lean concepts;
- Responsible for driving product DFM (Design for Manufacturing ) improvements
- Support Group wide metrics
- Drives installation of new lines to completion
- Develops line concepts in conjunction with plant wide support organizations
- Responsible for driving NPL builds to completion and resolving open issues
- Responsible for eliminating Excess and Obsolete Material associated with the introduction of new part numbers and new programs
- Responsible for implementation of any changes related to the projects running in serial production, to include but not limited to model rolls, hardware/software changes, revalidation of suppliers/components.
- Manage the project budget coming from approved capital requests (ECR)
- Manage the project items related to refurbishment topics
Qualifications
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering
- 2 years working in manufacturing engineering and/or quality engineering, preferably in high volume automotive environment
- Experience leading engineering projects and/or new product launches
- Experience working with Product Life Cycle (PLC) and Project Management tools (schedules, document control, project reporting)
- Interfacing with automotive customers including reporting projects status, customer requirements, customer launch processes, working in customer online portals
- Working with automotive core tools such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), MSA (Measurement System Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), 8D (Problem Solving), DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
- Experience working on managing project budgets and tracking expenditures to stay within budget
- Experience working with global cross functional teams
- Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Organizational and time management skills
- Excellent leadership skills with clear written and verbal communication
