Summary:

The Freedom Federal Credit Union Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for assisting the Branch Manager in the day-to-day management of a Freedom branch by supervising, directing, and controlling financial activities of branch staff. The Assistant Branch Manager assumes full management responsibility of the branch operations and staff during the Branch Manager’s absence. The ABM is also responsible for all duties delegated by the Branch Manager. In conjunction with the Branch Manager, the ABM is responsible for the sound operations of a branch, exceeding members’ expectations regarding service, and meeting certain financial and production goals and objectives. 

The Assistant Branch Manager complies with all federal, state and organizational policies, procedures and processes, including (but not limited to) the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).  Maintains confidentiality of current, past, and potential members and their personal and financial information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill the role as the Branch Manager during times in which the Branch Manager is out of the office or unavailable.  This includes exercising authority of a manager by performing supervisory responsibilities: coaching, counseling, performance management, disciplinary action, work direction, staffing, training, staff meetings, reward and recognition, and retention.
  • Maintain a high level of member service and ensure staff maintains a high level of member service with every member that visits or calls the branch.
  • All functions of the Teller position.  
  • All functions of the FSR position.
  • Communicate important operational performance information to the Branch Manager.
  • Follow all branch security procedures on a daily basis.
  • Manage and control branch cash to minimize exposure and ensure our members are served.
  • Assist in the accurate completion and submission of a monthly branch self-audit.
  • According to the S. A. F. E. Act (Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act) this mortgage loan originator annually must meet the requirements and be registered in the NMLS (nationwide Mortgage Licensing System) and Registry.
  • Assist the Tellers and FSRs in resolving cash differences.
  • Review and approve employee time-sheets through the ADP system.
  • Ensure proper scheduling of the branch staff to maximize member service and minimize downtime to staff.
  • Ensure that all monthly and daily operational logs are completed properly.  
  • Review and approve FSR tracking records and update goal files accordingly.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Required Experience

  • A High School Diploma is required; a degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of similar or related experience; 2 or more is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a supervisory capacity or in a role with coaching opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills including telephone, written, and verbal/interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations, and explanations with members, direct and indirect reports, and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating, and/or advising others on matters of significance.
