Our Finance and Billing team is currently seeking applicants for a Medical Billing Specialist. This position will work under the direction of the Billing Manager and is responsible for executing the eligibility, collections, and billing operations for all DYS businesses. The individual is responsible for implementing, maintaining and enforcing policies and procedures as well as streamlining effective billing processes across all services. This position is highly visible and requires an individual with strong customer services skills and the ability to prioritize and plan.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform electronic and manual eligibility confirmation when applicable and document results in EHR.
  • Ensure there are no errors or issues with eligibility prior to claims being submitted to payor.
  • Research and resolve denials and EOB rejections pertaining to eligibility issues within standard billing cycle timeframe.
  • Work with existing clients to obtain payment on outstanding account balances and/or set up and document payment plans in EHR.
  • Coordinate and ensure the services provided will be reimbursable (e.g deductible amounts, co-payments, effective date, etc.)
  • Maintains strict confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations. 
  • Collaborate with clinical and management teams regarding billing processes, scheduling and client needs. 
  • Perform additional duties as requested by Supervisor or Management team.

Preferred Education and Experience 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 

  • Knowledge of Behavioral health clinical services preferred 

  • 2-3 years of experience working in the medical/healthcare billing area, with strong, demonstrated knowledge of managing claims processing. 

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of revenue cycle, collections and payment posting, medical billing, Medicare and Medicaid, and third-party payers. 

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, clinicians and payors in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
