A Brief Overview

Responsible for Group Life, Accident, and Disability reinsurance business development activities, product sales, and deal flow activities using expert level marketing skills and experience. Also identify, vet, establish and manage relationships with strategic partners who control or have access to Group Life, Accident and/or Disability insurance distribution to grow reinsurance premium in those lines of business. Act as a primary contact with potential clients, reinsurance brokers, strategic partners and a liaison between the Life, Accident and Disability actuarial and underwriting teams to implement new business programs. Serve as a key member of the U.S. Group Life, Accident, and Disability Reinsurance leadership team providing strategic direction on business development and fostering a spirit of cooperation and coordination among all work areas.

What you will do

  • Identify and source new Group Life, Accident, and/or Disability reinsurance opportunities. Identify potential new distribution channels to bring to our customers in exchange for reinsurance. Oversee and assess new business opportunities and coordinate with internal teams.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry connectors (e.g. reinsurance brokers, affinity groups, distributors) in order to generate sales activity and distribution opportunities. Take ownership of strategic relationships and ensure that broker/prospect objectives are met or gain understanding when objectives are not feasible.

  • Ensure a strong relationship with clients and strategic partners across functions and collaborates internally with actuarial, underwriting, and operations teams.

  • Serve as a member of the Group Life, Accident and Disability leadership team, including setting strategic and tactical business development direction. Develop plans to achieve goals and objectives.

  • Coordinate and work with all necessary departments within Group Re & RGA to develop and support reinsurance growth.

  • Ability to conduct due diligence and onboarding of business and strategic partners.

  • Manage completion of special projects as they arise and performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to travel as required, up to 50% of the time.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Business, Actuarial Science, Administration, Marketing or related degree or equivalent related work experience required

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) or ASA or FSA accreditation or MBA preferred

  • 10+ Years Group Life, Accident, and Disability reinsurance marketing, sales or related experience. required

  • Intermediate Word, SQL/Query and Excel skills required

  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines required

  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives required

  • Expert oral and written communication and presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders, including customers and associates. required

  • Highly advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different disciplines, including pricing, investments, accounting, systems, and administration. required
