The Wage Agency Instructor, under direction, assists in training various specialty skilled and/or semi-skilled courses within a specified program. Utilizes knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to help maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction. Performs online and/or classroom instruction, field-based skills training, and/or may provide technical assistance in a specialty area. Uses a variety of media to present course material. May assist in creating new and/or updating curriculum content, when necessary, to meet learner needs.
This position reports to the Training Manager, Transportation & Heavy Equipment.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Four years of heavy equipment operations experience to include experience on two or more of the following: Aerial Work Platforms, Backhoe, Bulldozer, Dump Truck, Excavator, Forklift, Front End Loader, Maintainer, and Skid Steer.
One year of adult education and/or training.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Fluency in both English and Spanish, with excellent written and verbal communication.
Valid Texas Commercial Driver License.
Ten years of heavy equipment experience three or more of the following: Asphalt Distributor, Backhoe, Dozer, Maintainer, Excavator, Front End Loader, Skid Steer, Forklift, Aerial Work Platforms, Crane, Roller, Dump Truck.
Knowledge of and/or certifications in Highway Safety and Traffic control.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects and/or wear personal protective gear during instruction.
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions during instruction.

Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

Equipment:
Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone.
PPE if needed.
Notifications:

This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.
All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.
Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines.
This position allows telecommuting per TEEX guidelines.
This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.
