Security Investigator - Hattiesburg

JOB SUMMARY
This position provides investigative and physical security services to Mississippi Power in response to complaints of violations of Federal, State, and local laws; regulatory mandates; and company policies. Such violations may have been committed by employees, contractors, vendors, outsourced service providers, or temporary employees. It also serves as a liaison between the company and local, state and federal law enforcement.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field – strongly preferred
- CPP or CFE - preferred
Experience
- At least 3 years investigative experience in the following corporate security areas or related fields, local, state, or federal agencies is required
- Corporate Security
- Internal Auditing
- Internal Affairs
- Criminal Investigations
- Demonstrated ability to independently plan and conduct sensitive investigations
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and present reports of findings and recommendations, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with individuals and/or groups at all levels within the public and private sector
- Ability to develop a network of professional contacts in law enforcement and other corporate security departments
- Demonstrated high ethical values
Technical/Functional Knowledge
- Knowledge of and skills in diverse investigative and interviewing techniques
- Knowledge of applicable civil and criminal law
- Knowledge of trends and best practices in Corporate Security
- Knowledge of general physical security concepts
- Knowledge of project planning and management for physical security equipment installation
- Knowledge and skills in case management systems
- Knowledge of physical security trends & methods
- Knowledge of access control systems
- Knowledge of IP based CCTV
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct proactive & reactive investigations
- Prepare case reports, including investigative findings and recommendations
- Avert losses and collaborate with customers to recover losses of monetary and physical assets
- Undertake special projects including, but not limited to, project planning and management for physical security equipment installation, storm response, threat analysis, executive protection, and physical security assessments
- Complete and maintain firearms qualification, including the requirements to obtain a Mississippi enhanced firearm concealed carry permit
- Partner with other security team members to deliver security solutions to client organizations
- Maintain liaison with Federal, State, and local law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies, as well as with security professionals in other corporations
