AVP, Marine Facilities Team Lead

We are looking for a strategic and dynamic leader for the Marine Facilities Industry Practice to drive growth and lead team of Underwriters and Underwriter Assistants with a primary focus on Recreational Marinas, Boat Dealers, Boat Builders, Yacht Clubs and Boat Clubs.
As the AVP, Marine Facilities Team Leader, you will report directly to the VP, Industry Practice Leader. You will play a crucial role in collaborating with the Marine Facilities Team leadership to foster and expand the growth of this exciting underwriting group. Your leadership will be key in hiring, retaining, and developing the Marine Facilities underwriting team, ensuring their success and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Profit and Loss Accountability: Assist with efforts to achieve premium, profitability, growth, retention, and expense targets.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the P&C Underwriting Center to align strategies.
- Underwriting Strategy Execution: Oversee the execution of underwriting strategies for Marine Facilities Practice.
- Technical Underwriting: Serve as a technical expert for referrals and underwriting authority, coordinating with IP Leader and Territory Underwriting Manager when risks fall outside of field authority.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure high underwriting quality through monthly self-audits, corporate underwriting audits, and interactions.
- Staff Development: Lead onboarding, training, and development of the underwriting team, fostering a culture of inclusion and excellence. Ensure effective deployment of staff for the Marine Facilities industry Practice. Oversee workflows, staffing resources, and appropriate application of technology to ensure efficient, cost-effective field operation. Collaborate with HR on performance management and compensation processes.
- Minimum of 5 years of P&C underwriting experience with leadership roles
- In-depth understanding of middle market Property & Casualty products.
- Knowledge of Marine products and exposures.
- Proven people management skills.
- Strong technical and underwriting leadership abilities.
- Advanced marketing and sales expertise.
- Ability to build strategic relationships and drive customer focus.
- Demonstrated agility and execution skills.
- Strong operational decision-making and communication skills.
