Job Description

The Photonics and Materials Division (PMD) within the Electro-Optical Systems Laboratory(EOSL) is seeking a Student Assistant for Spring 2026 with an interest in radar and electronic warfare modeling. A core research area of PMD is radar and electronic warfare. Students in PMD may work on the following as applied to diverse DoD problems:

• Integration of PMD devices on airborne platform
• Radio Frequency (RF) lab experiments
• Design, fabrication and assembling of PMD devices

Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
• Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university
• 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in modeling radar and/or electronic warfare systems
• Experience with Altium and MATLAB software
• Interest in signal processing
• Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
• Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas

Hours per Week

10–20 hours per week

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
