Senior Designer

Job Summary

The Senior Designer is responsible for designing complex battery projects from the concept stage to prototype/production. In this role, they will work cross-functionally for the release of high/low voltage battery products. 

Responsibilities

• Design new parts from initial design to prototype phase using Solidworks.
• Create 2D prints applying geometric dimensions and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Generate 3D components, assemblies, weldments, and harnesses using Solidworks.
• Generate assembly illustrations using Solidworks and other office tools to help engineers establish proper assembly processes of stationary energy storage system components.
• Perform packaging studies on stationary energy systems using different types of off-the-shelf products.
• Work with Release Engineers to meet component and system requirements.
• Apply design for manufacturability, design for assembly, and integration knowledge to parts and subsystem designs.
• Responsible for producing product structure and engineering bill of material (BOM) for use in development and production.
• Ensure PLM system integrity and manage all product configuration data and information throughout the product lifecycle.
• Execute plans according to schedule for engineering releases.
• Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
• Predictable and reliable attendance. 

Position Qualifications

• Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant manufacturing/component industry experience.
• Previous experience with design and product launch.
• Previous experience with sheet metal, plastic injection molding, forming/stamping, casting, extrusion, and composites.
• Proficiency in 3DExperience (Solidworks) experience. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Understanding of GD&T and Dimensional Management required.
