GENERAL SUMMARY
The Maintenance Lead Technician is responsible for completing maintenance assignments to build, repair and/or maintain all equipment in good operating condition as quickly and accurately as possible, while keeping associated costs to a minimum and meet Plant’s goals.
Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Completes projects with minimal guidance showing a proactive attitude to design and installations.
- Troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation. Dismantles and examines devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Troubleshoots and repairs input/output devices using PLC systems.
- Troubleshoots, completes, designs, upgrades and installs electrical equipment, circuits and systems.
- Troubleshoots, repairs/replace electrical components at the component level.
- Sets up and operates shop machinery such as lathe, drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welder. etc. Uses hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment.
- Installs new or repairs/modify hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed.
- Improves reliability and uptime of all equipment. Takes a proactive approach to equipment issues with a preventive maintenance mentality.
- Operates the cooling water and wastewater system in compliance with EPA regulations.
- Operates forklift and hydraulic working platform as needed.
- Research supplies, parts and machines needed to complete workorders.
- Assists in organizing and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
- Performs and documents work orders and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Documents work completed. Contributes to upkeep and updating of required paperwork such as records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, PM logs, etc.
- Supports the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company.
- Follows applicable ISO, Safety, Health and Environmental rules and guidelines while performing any procedure.
- Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
- As needed, covers for Maintenance Supervisor when Supervisor is not present.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Requires an Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in maintenance mechanics related field.
- Five years' experience in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, construction; or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent.
- Must have 2.5 years in Maintenance Associate position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting PLCs, electrical and components, pneumatic, instrumentation and mechanical areas.
- Proven expertise in industrial electrical including design, sizing, installation and component level troubleshooting.
- Experience in other fields of maintenance such as plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, welding, forklift repair, etc.
- Competent PC (MS Office and Windows) computer skills.
- Experience with complex machine controls and instrumentation (including sophisticated instrument systems, PLC’s, etc.)
- Experience with complex welding/brazing, Complex Hydraulics, Plumbing, Pneumatics, Carpentry.
- Requires the ability to operate a wide variety of tools such as hand tools, power tools, drill press, band saw, welder, cutting torch, lathe, etc.
- Must have knowledge of industrial electrical, including advanced electrical (three phase 260 volt and higher) design, sizing of components and installations, etc.
- Must have proven knowledge of electrical components troubleshooting and repair.
