This is a federally and state funded position sponsored by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC). TCMHCC was created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in this state in relation to children, adolescents, and perinatal women.

The University of Texas Dell Medical School is a Health Research Institute (HRI) for the TCMHCC. The Senior Clinical Program Coordinator, Referrals and External Relations, will support outreach related to the Texas Child Mental Health Programs (TCMHP) including, Perinatal Psychiatry Access Network (PeriPAN), Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN), Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT), as well as other related Dell Children’s Medical Center initiatives. PeriPAN and CPAN provide one-on-one support to patient care providers that help treat the mental health needs of children (CPAN) and perinatal women (PeriPAN) and provide access to mental health services. TCHATT provides telemedicine or telehealth programs to school districts to help identify and assess the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents and provides access to mental health services. This position will conduct outreach in the Central Texas catchment area related to psychiatric access programs, in alignment with legislative, institutional, and program goals.

This position has an end date of 8/31/2025, but may be renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals.

Purpose

The Senior Program Coordinator, Referrals and External Relations will lead, execute, and deliver on outreach, education, and external stakeholder engagement strategies that elevate awareness of Texas Child Mental Health Programs and other Dell Children’s Medical Center initiatives. These programs and initiatives are aimed at improving mental health access and care for children, adolescents, and mothers in Central Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the referrals team and supervises referrals made by staff. Participates in supervision, feedback, and quality assurance checks. Provides mentorship, support, and consultation to referral teams as needed.

  • Recruits and retains institutional partnerships with educational institutions, community agencies, and nonprofits to enhance program utilization and sustainability. Identifies and prospects for interested institutional partners and initiates contact. Collaborates with Dell Children’s Medical Center on partnerships and resource utilization. Collaborates with community stakeholders to maintain a referral platform following state and TCMHP guidelines. Collaborates with Dell Children’s Medical Center to identify, establish, and maintain internal referral pathways and with other HRI staff on planning and cultivating relationships systematically. Serves as a liaison to organizations to cultivate a strong mental health access network. Represents Texas Child Mental Health Clinical programs at events, community meetings, and other public forums. Coordinates continuing education opportunities for Texas Child Mental Health Clinical program staff.

  • Collaborates with the Communications and Outreach team on requests for workshops and presentations. Plans virtual and in-person meetings and site visits by establishing agendas, purpose, and attendees and organizing the necessary messaging and collateral. Plans and facilitates presentations, webinars, meetings, and special events. Collaborates with the Outreach and Communications team to ensure alignment and clinical content accuracy.

  • Assists in developing, planning, and implementing outreach programs and promotional strategies. Assists with the development of outreach and communications plans to complement statewide marketing goals.
