An Operations Engineer (OE) is a position providing experience in both operations and engineering positions.  The OE will initially be assigned the role of either a Maintenance & Reliability Area Leader or Project Engineer.  At the appropriate time based on business needs, the OE will be assigned the duties of the alternate role of this position.  When performing the Maintenance & Reliability  role,  this position will manage the daily activities of the Maintenance department for the plant, all production, utilities and facilities related equipment.  The individual will be responsible for developing and leading the implementation of maintenance strategy for the new facility including ownership of the Planned Maintenance Standard for the facility.  Elements of that strategy will address safety, planning/scheduling, staffing, preventative and corrective maintenance, storeroom, continuous improvement and training.
Work activities include leading the team on electrical and mechanical trouble-shooting and repairs, preparing and managing the department budget, implementing preventative and predictive maintenance programs, and coordinating the Maintenance Stores area, Project Maintenance work activities and select capital improvements. 

When assuming the Project Engineer role, the OE is responsible for managing capital projects, supporting daily plant operations, and managing the technology transfer process for all parts of the raw & processing areas.
 

Principal duties and responsibilities: 

  • Development and effective implementation of the Plant maintenance strategy consistent with operational excellence initiatives to drive improved business results (lower unplanned downtime, , reduced material loss, optimized store inventory andbudgetary compliance)
  • Has overall financial responsibility for the maintenance department including stores inventory and working capital targets
  • Develop and support a structured PM program utilizing SAP PM/EAM.
  • Support Autonomous Maintenance process, which fosters operator involvement. 
  • Manage the maintenance team, schedules, performance and accountability
  • Identify individual training needs and work to create development plans
  • Work closely with the storeroom coordinator on parts management and define long range goals for this area.
  • Support development partnerships between maintenance and operations, creating a customer/provider relationship.
  • Support GMP, FDA, Calibration and EHS plant initiatives
  • Ensure maintainability of new installations.
  • Establish a comprehensive lubrication program.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage maintenance expense budget line items
  • Coordinates activities of the Maintenance Planner/scheduler to ensure materials and resources are readily available
  • Coordinates Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Identify and develop sensor strategies to support analytics and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Lead Planned Maintenance Optimization (PMO) program including Failure mode and effect analysis (FEMA) and Reliability centered maintenance (RCM).
  • Utilize analytical tools to identify continuous improvement opportunities and gain insights into factory reliability.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to  Contracted resources for facility related maintenance.
  • Lead capital improvement projects as needed.
  • Ensure employee safety from unsafe equipment conditions and equipment protection from environmental conditions.

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Bachelors of Science in an Engineering discipline or related
  • 5+ years of maintenance supervisory or Project management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of GMPs/OSHA Regulations
