UT Parking and Transportation Services is responsible for the management of over 17,000 parking spaces on campus, including 12 parking garages and more than 50 surface parking lots. Our operations include the distribution and regulation of daily, permitted, and event parking, as well as the maintenance of parking lots and garages. We also provide assistance to those parked on or traveling through campus. This assistance includes jump-starts and opening vehicles for those locked out. Purpose

Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Sign Production and Installation Technician to support the department’s signage and visual communication needs. This is a hands-on, physically active role that combines graphic design with regular signage production, placement, equipment operation, and coordination. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Communications, the technician is responsible for designing, producing, installing, and overseeing signage and marketing materials across campus. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, hands-on work and has strong technical skills operating and troubleshooting wide-format printers and signage equipment. It is not a traditional office-based or design-only role. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment and can manage multiple projects while collaborating with others.

Responsibilities

  • Design signage, maps, banners, and other materials using Adobe Creative Cloud. Collaborate with the design team to develop new visual projects and campaigns. Create signage placement maps and schedules and coordinate with other team members to ensure timely and accurate deployment and retrieval. Maintain a catalog of design templates, assets, and fonts for shared team use. Stay up-to-date with MUTCD and DOT signage standards and ensure compliance. Ensure all signage aligns with University branding guidelines.
  • Operate wide-format printers, RIP software, and tools to produce and assemble signs (e.g., vinyl application, coroplast mounting, decals). Maintain equipment, order materials, and arrange servicing or repairs as needed.
