Varsity - Strength and Conditioning
Position Summary:
will be responsible for aiding the Strength and Conditioning Coach in the implementation of performance and development initiatives that help ensure the physical preparation of McGill’s varsity student-athletes. This seasonal position primarily focuses on the swim program, but may include supporting other teams and department initiatives as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist, critique, and coach McGill student-athletes utilizing the varsity weight-room (non-swimming) when present and available to do so.
- Attend 1-2 meetings per month with the McGill Strength and Conditioning team to ensure consistency, communication, and establish an optimal training environment.
- Aid in the collection of sport science data, when applicable, across various sports, such as, at events and sport specific combines.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and optimal training environment.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
- B.Sc. Kinesiology/Human Kinetics/Exercise Science
- Valid NSCA- Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification or equivalent •
- Valid level C CPR and Standard First Aid Certification
- Experience as an elite athlete and/or developing and delivering evidence-based strength & conditioning programs
- Experience working with athlete programming, monitoring and management technology.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with coaches, Varsity staff, sport med professionals, and student-athletes.
- Experience coaching, teaching and/or directing student-athletes.
