Description
TEKsystems is searching for a Sr. Telecommunications Systems Administrator for our client in the Annapolis, MD market! This company is an innovative, established global company with a start-up culture that provides a range of wireless communications solutions and specialize in mission critical infrastructure. They have a large presence internationally, and are continuing to expand and grow their North American presence. The North American group has consistently grown through various large carrier contracts (Example: AT&T FirstNet) and they are quickly approaching the deployment of new hardware/software and applications which is driving the need to add to the team.
- This company is currently looking to expand the team at their Annapolis location to add a resource to support the deployment/"Go-Live" of their hardware/applications (Interworking function) at an increased scale.
- The Network/ Systems Admin will be a core member of their 24/7/365 Operations team to provide Tier 3 layer support for networking and IT administration for ECS (Emergency Communication Service).
- The network admins day- to- day can vary, but duties are not limited to the following:
- 1- serve as a point of escalation,
- 2. Diagnose, Troubleshoot, or escalate tickets,
- 3. Proactively monitor systems,
- 4. Assess performance and perform upgrades,
- 5. Maintain and create SOP's for responses and troubleshooting, maintain/administer accounts, test/deploy software, etc..
- The day to day and variation of duties will be heavier on responsiveness to the Go-Live in the beginning.
- Depending on volume, various duties can be peeled off (again, start up environment where they have the autonomy to scale if needed)
- You will design (More optimization as the design is already completed), implement, and maintain network operations across the company's global offices and cloud deployments, with a strong DevOps mindset — automating workflows, managing infrastructure as code, and building repeatable, resilient processes. You will be responsible for maintaining comprehensive documentation of IT policies, procedures, hardware, and software.

Key Responsibility Areas
1. Provide L3 technical support through 24/7/365 service desk, including on-call rotations and shift-based coverage; respond to, triage, escalate, and resolve incidents in accordance with defined SLAs.
2. Proactively monitor all IT systems, networks, and cloud infrastructure using observability tooling; identify and remediate issues before they impact operations.
3. Ensure IT systems meet security and compliance standards; plan and execute upgrades, patches, and hardening activities.
4. Maintain and administer user accounts, access controls, and application software licenses.
5. Conduct regular audits of IT systems and software; maintain an accurate, up-to-date asset register.
6. Document policies, procedures, infrastructure, and system configurations to a professional standard.
7. Analyze, test, and deploy software patches and updates in a controlled, risk-managed manner.
8. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members; contribute to knowledge base articles and training materials.
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in a field related to IT, computer science, or telecommunications. (Relevant years of experience will suffice as well)
2. Juniper Engineer level certification in both Routing and Switching (JNCIP) and Network Security (JNCIP-SEC). (Again this is desired, but not mandatory as they can have the experience with other manufacturers).
3. Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), and Red Hat Certified Specialist in Security certifications. (Cert is desired, but not mandatory)

Additional Skills & Qualifications
This is a on-site position that can eventually move to a hybrid schedule. Resource should expect to be on-site for the first 6 months or so, but then move to a hybrid schedule once up to speed of 3 days in office and 2 days remote. While this is a 24X7 NOC, this resource will be supporting the North American "day shift" as their partner across the globe will pick up the other shifts.
