Job Description
Turner & Townsend is looking for an Associate Director - Construction Cost Management with a heavy manufacturing background to join our Owner representative Project Management/Construction management team on new hyperscale green energy/manufacturing.
The Cost Manager will be part of a multi-disciplinary T&T Owner Representative Project Team responsible to support our Commission & Project Controls Directors by participating in preconstruction and post contract activities, by supervising and being focal point of all Cost related matters.
The position involves significant independent responsibility to oversee the scope of work and performance budget and schedule of the CSA works. The Cost Manager will manage and lead a Cost Management Team and liaise between the General Contractor (GC), the Turner & Townsend Team, Subcontractors, and the Client.
To ensure that the program achieves/or improves on its budget turnover/profit.
- Ensure the D365 is updated with accurate fee/cost forecasts, job open/closed, etc. in order.
- Provide accurate monthly work in place for the commission.
- Manage debt control effectively for the commission.
- Ensure invoices are raised in a timely manner to the client for the commission service delivery
- Develop the project's cost & controls standards, processes, procedures, and deliverables for the program in line with best practices.
- Update the project cost & controls standards, processes, procedures, and deliverables as needed.
- Provide technical subject matter expertise to the cost team as needed.
- Provide quality assurance on the deliverables produced by the project controls team.
- To provide effective leadership and direction of project controls team, embedding and promoting the values of T&T and to be responsible for their technical and personal development, so that:
- Onboard all project cost & controls team members with the process and procedures
- Onboard all the project team members and key project stakeholders with the role of the project cost & controls team
- The team works in a co-operative way within the commission
- The potential of staff is fully developed with a pro-active approach to learning & development
- The team has the skills/competencies to deliver the service
- Business Development, to take a pro-active approach to business development including in the following areas:
- Grow our relationship with the client on the commission
- Develop and grow new clients’ relationships
- Undertake networking to grow the T&T brand
- Ensure Marketing Database is regularly updated, with new and existing commissions
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- The candidate should have 15 years of relevant cost management experience in Tech or similar fields.
- The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related construction degree; or equivalent years of transferable field experience.
The candidate should have the following technical skills:
- A thorough knowledge of Cost Management methods and best practices.
- A thorough knowledge of forecasting, budgeting, planning, design, schedule and scope management.
- Understanding of Construction packages / bids.
- Have the technical skills to read, understand, and communicate contract requirements including construction drawings and specifications and interpret construction methods.
- Technology competent in using the following Software: MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
