Multi-Organ Abdominal Transplant - Assistant Professor

The Department of Surgery and Division of Transplant Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks a board certified / board eligible physician to join our expanding Multi-Organ Abdominal Transplant team. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital. We are comprised of nationally and internationally renowned, dedicated group of faculty and staff with a strong commitment to clinical care. 

Position Highlights:

• Full-time faculty position within the MCW Division of Transplant Surgery and the Department of Surgery in conjunction with the Froedtert & MCW Transplant Service Line.

• Opportunity to grow the adult abdominal transplant programs (liver, kidney, and pancreas).

• Collaborate with transplant surgeons, transplant physicians, intensivists, transplant and medical APPs, and other members of the service line to expand transplant care.   

• Contribute to the clinical education of fellows, residents, medical students, and other trainees.

• Participate in the academic, research and educational missions of the institution.

• A strong intensivist and inpatient APP team for care of patients in a dedicated Transplant Intensive Care Unit (TICU).

• Robust support for clinical research

• Focus on a patient-centered approach to delivery of care and engage in a climate of inquiry, quality, and safety.

Department and Division Highlights:

The Department of Surgery is comprised of 11 divisions, including 9 clinical divisions, a Division of Education, and a Division of Research. Under the leadership of the Chair of Surgery, Douglas B. Evans, MD, the department is committed to clinical excellence, innovative surgical research, academic achievement/professional development, and surgical education.

There are approximately 110 full time and P/T faculty and 60 trainees including a residency and six fellowship programs. The Department has an annual budget of $103M with annual research funding of approximately $8 million. Our storied tradition of excellence in resident and student education remains a top priority of all faculty. Our innovative surgical residency program provides residents with the skills needed to care for the patients of today and tomorrow – the principles learned at MCW will provide the foundation for life-long learning combined with a culture of caring – for patients and each other.

The Transplant Service Line is a joint program of Froedtert Hospital, the academic medical center of the Froedtert health network & the Medical College of Wisconsin, with vital support by Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin for tissue typing and research initiatives. The Service Line encompasses transplant programs in liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, and lung.  Representing the most comprehensive pediatric and adult transplant care in Wisconsin and the region, the service line is recognized for nationally ranked outcomes, internationally known medical and surgical transplant specialists and end-stage disease management, innovation, and ground-breaking research. It is a critical resource for Wisconsin and beyond.

Qualifications:

• Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.

• Board certification (or eligibility) in Sugery.

• State medical licensure, or eligibility to obtain license, in the state of Wisconsin.

• Experience with machine perfusion technology is preferred.
