Histology Laboratory Assistant

The Histology Lab Assistant functions in the Pathology department by performing a variety of duties in support of the entire department. Assists by performing specimen processing, sending materials to outside facilities, billing and coding, maintaining block and slide files and other administrative duties. These include the processing of pathology samples, assisting in fine needle aspiration procedures, instrument maintenance, material send out/receiving and maintenance of pathology specimen files. Billing and coding responsibilities such a review and resolution of charge/billing errors, ICD-10 analysis and charge code entry. Additional duties include generating of letters, client interactions and other administrative duties. 

Schedule: 

• Full-time | 80 hours every two weeks 
• Monday- Friday | Shifts between 6am-4:30 pm

Pay and Benefits: 

• Starting pay begins at $18.40 per hour and increases with experience
  • Pay range: $18.40 - $27.61 per hour

Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required. 
• Prefer graduate from or in the process of pursuing a degree from an accredited laboratory or medicine-related program. 
• Prior experience in a similar role preferred. 
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills necessary.  
• Good communication and problem solving skills required. 
• Background in Microsoft Office, EPIC EMR and billing and coding preferred.
