We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The Principal DBA will have extensive experience with Oracle along with a proven track record of successfully migrating Oracle databases to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (PAAS). This person is part of a production support team of DBAs that work on the installation, configuration and upgrade of Oracle software and related products across different OS environments (Linux, Windows) and hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This DBA will also share responsibility for supporting and managing the Oracle R12 e-Business Suite Application and Microsoft Sql Server production and non-production environments.
The Principal DBA will work closely with the development group on database design and implementation projects. This person will maintain backup and recovery plans, implement and maintain database security, perform capacity planning, and will be part of an on-call rotation. The Principal DBA will work with vendors to determine upgrade paths and will maintain documentation and standards for DBA tasks. This DBA will evaluate Oracle features and Oracle related products and will make recommendations for future activities and tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage numerous Oracle RDBMS databases and Oracle e-Business Suite Applications on Linux and Microsoft Windows environments both on-prem and in the Oracle Cloud.
- Design, plan, and execute database migrations from on-premises environments to the Oracle/Microsoft Cloud.
- Monitor database health and proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and issues.
- Research, plan, recommend, and implement patches, upgrades and installations for Oracle products, including quarterly CPU patches.
- Tune database environments to ensure performance and to meet service delivery expectations.
- Participate in the resolution of critical and complex design and implementation issues across projects.
- Ensure business continuity through design, implementation and testing of disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Administer and manage Oracle Fusion Applications across modules (ERP, HCM to name a few).
- Maintain OCI tenancy, including compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.
- Monitor system health and performance using Oracle tools like Oracle Cloud Monitoring, Oracle Management Cloud, and APM.
- Collaborate with functional teams for system configuration, updates, and issue resolution.
- Manage SRs (Service Requests) with Oracle Support and follow through to resolution.
- Provide mentoring to less experienced DBAs.
- Perform other duties assigned by Management.
Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent computer-related experience with at least 8 years of relevant, progressively responsible experience.
- Minimum of 8 years Oracle experience with strong knowledge and experience on Oracle technology architecture including RAC, Grid Infrastructure, WebLogic, Oracle e-Business Suite, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Microsoft Sql Server.
- Proven communication, problem-solving and analytical abilities with limited information.
- Must be able to perform root cause analysis of problems, provide solutions and communicate clearly to customers and management.
