Job Summary

Responsible for supervising the Incoming Receiving Inspection (IRI) team of quality technicians and inspectors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage priorities and stage work for the incoming inspection team
  • Assist the incoming inspection team with any product or process related questions
  • Streamline first articles through the inspection process
  • Lead daily standup meetings to discuss safety, quality, and productivity
  • Assess utilization of tools and equipment to ensure often-used tools are located at point of use, and to identify any gaps for tools needed
  • Understand skills of the incoming inspection team and identify cross-training opportunities
  • Instill a culture of teamwork and respect
  • Implement improvements to continuously increase the efficiency and productivity of the group while maintaining high quality output
  • Ensure the inspection team is following written procedures
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Visit suppliers when necessary to confer on specific quality issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management or related technical field, or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of experience 
  • Proficient technical expertise and application domain knowledge
  • ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred Proficient with ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics
  • Ability to understand military specifications and to read blueprints
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
  • Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
