POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Engineering Director – Product Safety & Security I drives the strategic direction of all Gentex product functional safety and cybersecurity engineering. This role is also responsible for leading engineering teams in identifying innovative solutions to requirements related to product functional safety and cybersecurity.

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

  • Lead the development and execution of product functional safety and cybersecurity engineering activities across all Gentex products in development and the continuous monitoring of production products.
  • Set the vision for the Product Safety and Security Engineering team in accordance with the objectives of the Engineering organization and the business. 
  • Manage a team of engineers, including being primarily responsible for recruiting, training, retaining, and managing performance of that team. 
  • Mentor and coach engineering leaders to optimize performance among various teams. 
  • Drive the strategy and ongoing improvement of Gentex product functional safety and cybersecurity engineering methods and processes. 
  • Oversee product functional safety and cybersecurity engineering processes of products in development and production while meeting regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Drive alignment with various cross-functional teams throughout engineering to ensure project success. 
  • Oversee third party partnerships to ensure staffing needs meet department demands.
  • Clearly communicate Gentex product safety and security capabilities with customers globally.

  • Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace.   
     

WHAT TO BRING 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant product functional safety and cybersecurity engineering experience. 
  • 8+ years of experience leading a team of engineers. 
  • 5+ years of experience working in the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Full understanding of ISO 26262, ISO 21434 and other relevant standards.
  • Ability to travel internationally.

WHAT WILL HELP 

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical discipline. 
  • 8+ years of relevant functional safety and cybersecurity engineering experience.
  • 10+ years of experience leading a team of engineers.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, high-growth environment.
  • Experience in aerospace, medical, and consumer products industries.
  • Experience leading a global team.
