Be You.

The Office of Interdisciplinary Programs is looking for a Senior Program Coordinator for Interdisciplinary Graduate Education to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to help launch and shape a new initiative supporting interdisciplinary graduate education at Duke. You’ll work closely with faculty and staff across departments and schools to support three Interdisciplinary Graduate Education Collaboratives (IGECs), helping students engage across disciplines and earn an interdisciplinary certificate.

In this role, you’ll coordinate programming and events, manage student recruitment and support, and help track the impact of the initiative. You’ll be part of a dynamic team that values collaboration, innovation, and academic excellence.

This is a hybrid position. You’ll regularly attend on-campus meetings and events while enjoying flexibility to work remotely part of the time. The position is funded through a five-year grant, with continuation dependent on future funding.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in program or academic administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with graduate education and academic environments.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary research and higher education administration.

Other Requirements:

  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Be Bold.

Program Planning and Management

  • Convene the lead faculty for each IGEC regularly and work with them to track progress towards key deadlines and milestones
  • Work with lead faculty to develop and implement programming, including courses, work-in-progress seminars, events, journal clubs, experiential learning components, and cross-cutting professional development opportunities
  • Provide support for events by securing space, ordering food, promoting the event, reconciling receipts and managing other event details
  • Help process financial expenses and track expenses to ensure alignment with the grant budget
  • Track the impact of the IGECs and prepare annual progress reports for the grant
  • Facilitate information sharing and learning across the three IGECs, particularly related to program innovations and lessons learned
  • Build relationships with the staff and faculty responsible for other interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs and opportunities on campus

Student Recruitment and Support

  • Develop program materials to explain the program to prospective students
  • Promote IGEC to students outside the IGEC cohort
  • Support efforts to recruit and select students to each IGEC program
  • Coordinate and represent IGEC programs at student outreach events
  • Respond to student queries and provide policy guidance to students on academic and financial matters
  • Communicate important program information to students
  • Track and maintain records related to student and faculty participation
  • Collect quantitative and qualitative program data to track the impact of the program on students, and eventually alumni
