Senior Backend Engineer (Embed Integrations)

About the Team

Miro is building an open developer platform to support new use cases, extend the reach of Miro online, and integrate with 3rd party systems. The Miro Developer Platform is a highly strategic initiative that strives to empower developers and partners to build engaging and powerful visual collaboration applications and experiences using Miro technology.
The success of the platform is tied to the variety of functionalities we offer through it and the seamless and reliable integration experience while building. With the platform, we have the opportunity to attract users, make their collaboration experience outstanding, and allow them to use visual collaboration in 3rd party tools they use daily.
The Embed Integrations team is building components and tools other developers (internal and external) can use to create a first-class Miro experience inside both sync and async collaborative tools. The backbone of the systems the team owns is used widely by other teams and supports seamless user experience across a variety of integrations including Google Meet, MS Teams, Confluence, Notion, and many others.

About the Role

The Embed Integrations team is highly dynamic. Like other teams at Miro, we have the freedom to define our own success and are accountable for our commitments. We are currently undergoing various technical transformations and challenges to enhance the developer experience for our teams. It is not a laid-back environment but one that provides numerous growth opportunities.
As a member of this team, you will be working with 5 engineers, a product manager, and an engineering manager. Your primary responsibility will be developing and supporting the embed experience of Miro boards across a variety of integrations (Miro in an iframe, in simple terms). This includes addressing challenges related to authentication, compliance, and ensuring consistent behavior across multiple platforms. 
We are looking for a self-sufficient and proactive engineer who will primarily focus on our backend services. Your role will involve developing scalable and maintainable architecture. Miro is rapidly scaling both its technical systems and the development process, and we need someone who can help the team sustain a rapid pace of innovation as well as sharing their learnings with the team and other sister-teams that make use of our systems.

What you’ll need

• 5+ years of backend development experience. We use Java 17, Kotlin and Spring and Spring Boot.
• 5+ years of experience building robust, high-scale, distributed systems in production environments
• Experience with microservices architecture
• Familiarity with RDBMS (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, DynamoDB)
• Ability and openness to learn, fail, reflect and apply learning moving forward
• Curiosity and strong collaboration skills
