Job Description:
This position functions as both a Patient Care Tech (PCT) and Health Unit Coordinator (HUC). A Patient Care Tech functions as a clinical support partner assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. A Health Unit Coordinator, under the direction of nursing leadership, facilitates unit organization and patient care by assisting in the coordination of patient, nursing, physician and other health care provider office and clerical activities.Location: Park City Hospital – Park City, Utah
Department/Unit: Maternity – Woman/Newborn Unit
Entry Rate: $18.12+ (based on patient care experience)
Shift Details: 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts
Schedule: Variable including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays required

Job Essentials
Patient Care:
Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care which may include toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, fresh water and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs.
Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
Provides excellent customer service when responding to patient and family requests.
Reports and records patient care findings and data in a timely manner. Reports changes in the patient condition quickly and secures qualified assistance as needed.
Based on unit, may also be responsible for telemetry duties.
Can function as a patient care attendant by monitoring patient, taking care of patient care needs, and involving other members of the patient care team as needed.
When working on a clinical unit, may be required to take medications from the delivery system to the RN.
Collaboration:
Collaborates and consults with RN and other members of the interdisciplinary team for best patient care.
Demonstrate effective teamwork, prioritization, communication, and organization.
Performs non-nursing duties as delegated (e.g., cleaning, stocking, answering phones, clerical support, providing directions).
Implements plan of care as delegated.
Performs assigned duties within Scope of Practice and performs specialized procedures with skill validation and according to regulatory standards. Fosters a safe environment by complying with the safety policy and taking appropriate action in an emergency.
Patient Care Support and Clerical Activities:
Answer patient call lights.
Schedules tests and treatments as ordered.
May provide access control to visitor entrance to secure units.
Answers unit telephones and disseminates information appropriately.
Processes, organizes, files and maintains patient and unit records.
Transcribes physician orders.
Acts as unit receptionist.
May organize, stock and maintain supplies on the unit.
Minimum Qualifications
Current CNA Certification.

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- and -
Clerical or customer service experience.
If working in Utah
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Completion of nursing assistant training program (verification of nursing assistant training program completion required at time of hire and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire)

Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two years (official transcript required to verify completion of class at time of hire and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire)
*For those hired into a skilled nursing facility or long-term care center, obtaining a C.N.A. certification within 120 days is allowed only if the new hire has never been a C.N.A. in Utah. If previously certified, must have a current and valid C.N.A. before start date.
Preferred Qualifications
CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.

Experience as a secretary in a hospital.
