Job Description

The Director of Global Environment, Health & Safety, will lead the global EHS program for Accuray globally. They will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing a world-class EHS program, that will ensure the health and safety of Accuray employees and contractors, and full compliance to regulations. They will be responsible for defining, developing, and driving an environmental sustainability initiative, that will ensure responsible environmental stewardship.

They will lead a global team of EHS professionals and direct the efforts of EHS champions across the organization. This position will report directly to the SVP of Global Operations, with strong alignment to additional key functional VP/SVP leaders. They will need to influence broadly to be effective.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Functional leadership for the global EHS team. Including, but not limited to, goal setting, target setting, developing a high-performing team, directing, coaching, and delivering results

  • Establish a network of functional, regions, and site EHS champions. Direct, guide, and influence their efforts and effectiveness
  • Review, refresh, and enhance Accuray’s EHS policies and framework
  • Establish Accuray’s Environmental Sustainability Policy and Framework
  • Manage and implement environmental health and safety (EH&S) programs which include hazard identification evaluation and control, accident/injury prevention, hazardous materials/waste management, emergency preparedness, fire/life safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Implements policy and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, regional, and local laws and for the reduction of EH&S liabilities and maintains the departments' quality assurance programs.
  • Acts as administrative liaison for all EH&S regulatory agency inspections and surveys, including JCAHO, Cal EPA, DOHS, Cal OSHA.
  • Direct EHS oversight and support for manufacturing operations in Madison, WI, HQ operations in Sunnyvale CA, Engineering Operations in Solon OH, and Field Operations across the AMS Region.
  • Work with corporate counsel / Legal Team in reporting the company’s annual public sustainability ESG targets to customers and Government agencies
  • Manage and implement environmental health and safety programs and policy including that conforms with local OSHA requirements
  • Serves as the companies’ head radiation safety officer (RSO) ensuring the health and safety of employees alongside corporate business compliance through radiation detection and prevention processes and procedures. The RSO is also responsible for radiation surveys, theoretical calculations, shipment verification, customer support/inquiries, State filings and other matters related to radiation service and compliance IAW state, federal and country radiological nuclear laws and recordkeeping.
  • Implements internal business policy and procedures to ensure external compliance with federal, state, regional, and local laws (state, country, regional and global compliance where applicable).
  • Provides oversight, guidance, and recommendations to global standardization of policy, program, and procedure within the regions of greater EMEIA, Asia/Pacific, China, and Japan.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in EHS, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven experience managing EHS programs across multiple international locations
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning abilities.
