The classification will undertake a variety of administrative and program management tasks in support of the operations of programs. This would include planning and organizing programs and activities in assigned areas where they will need to plan, implement assigned programs with strict deadlines while staying within constraints by utilizing resources effectively. The incumbent will facilitate the effective management of programs according to the organization’s standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

1. Develop and implement open space resource management and facility plans; administer, manage and coordinate projects and activities for the county's open space program that emphasize the physical, natural, environmental and cultural features of the open space properties. 
2. Recruit, train, supervise or lead other county employees and/or volunteers in support of open space activities and stewardship of properties. 
3. Coordinate with the land management section and other county departments in performing routine maintenance and facility improvements of open space properties. 
4. Develop and implement community outreach programs and stewardship activities with other programs/sections and/or the public relating to conservation, resource protection, plan implementation and habitat restoration at open space properties. 
5. Develop and implement a land health monitoring program for each open space property. 
6. Deliver educational programs and presentations as needed for the open space program, may prepare marketing materials including pamphlets, fliers, scheduled events and requisition maps; update county's web site and open space plans. 
7. Represent the department at community events to promote the open space properties and program; may serve as a liaison to advisory committees, boards and community advocacy groups. 
8. Prepare activity reports; maintain volunteer statistics, lease agreements, contracts and expenditure summaries.  
9. Incumbent(s) in this classification may handle sensitive and/or confidential records, plans, documents or decisions that require maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.   
10. Any one position may not include all duties listed. However, the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent performing the essential duties listed above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s Degree in related field and two (2) years of work experience as it pertains to the purpose of the positions. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above requirements.

The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:

1. Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation. 

2. Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County.

3. Employee must complete required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position.

4. Employee must complete required Supervisor classes if applicable.

5. Depending on assignment, some positions in this classification may require possession of a valid New Mexico driver’s license by employment date and maintain while employed in this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. All essential duties are performed mostly indoors, with some positions performing functions in an outdoor and field setting.
