Job Description
Embark on an exciting opportunity as an After-Hours Medical Receptionist for a leading gynecological practice. In this role, you’ll be the vital link between patients and our esteemed medical team during non-business hours. Your compassionate demeanor and clear communication skills will provide reassurance to callers, ensuring they receive prompt and professional assistance when they need it most. Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls with a warm, professional manner during evening and weekend hours
- Provide callers with accurate, helpful information about the practice’s specialized gynecological services
- Create detailed message records for the daytime staff to ensure seamless follow-up
- Act as a knowledgeable first point of contact, addressing basic inquiries with confidence and clarity
- Maintain the highest standards of patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Demonstrate empathy and understanding when interacting with patients, especially those with sensitive concerns
- Utilize your basic understanding of medical terminology to effectively communicate with callers
- Manage a system for prioritizing urgent calls and relaying critical information to on-call staff when necessary
Requirements
- Excellent English communication skills with clear pronunciation and a friendly, professional tone
- Basic understanding of medical terminology, particularly related to gynecology (nursing background is a plus but not required)
- Strong customer service orientation with a passion for helping others
- Ability to work independently and maintain composure in potentially stressful situations
- Comfortable using computer systems and willing to learn new software as needed
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
- Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours
- Strong sense of discretion and commitment to maintaining patient privacy
- Ability to think on your feet and provide appropriate responses to a variety of caller inquiries
