Manager Software Engineering
The TASC IT team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and running all related applications and data environments supporting client administration, pricing, trading, publishing, and reporting associated with the Corporate Owned Life Insurance and High Net Worth portfolios. The successful candidate for this position must be able to work with several different tools and technologies and be willing to learn on the fly. Additionally, this individual must work closely with TASC Operations to provide white-glove service expected in the COLI business.
This is an opportunity for an individual with a passion for understanding business problems and developing creative solutions on business-critical systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with the business and technical teams, develop solutions, and deliver project milestones.
Responsibilities:
• Develop an in-depth, working knowledge of the end-to-end technology solution and business processes used for policy administration, trading, illustrations, client reporting, and corporate reporting
• Leverages technical and business background in policy administration to guide the team and set the example to effectively overcome high impact issues in execution of key initiatives
• Has ownership responsibility for the stability and support of COLI/BOLI administration domain
• Through partnership with business leaders, explore and lead technology enhancements driving business process improvements and application efficiencies, solving complex business problems, and supporting strategic growth opportunities
• Lead and/or participate in assignments and projects, clarifying business requirements, writing technical specifications, performing application development and modification activities
• Lead and/or participate in planning sessions with business stakeholders, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements
• Develop test strategy and oversee key performance metrics for quality and production readiness
• Oversight responsibility for software contractors and outsourcing partners providing system enhancements and production support; Execute SOW’s, measure quality, and drive value and delivery
• Actively engage with team members shaping the work and direction
• Serve as a role model demonstrating Talcott behaviors and supporting Talcott business goals
• Engage with Project Managers and other IT / Business leaders to support business priorities and deliver outcomes
• Responsible for assigning work to direct reports, assessing performance, and supporting development needs; Coach and assist direct reports to maximize their performance potential
• Understands business requirements. Negotiate terms of SLAs and provide direction in designing the strategy in accordance with the SLA; Ensure SLA agreements are understood, communicated, and achieved
Qualifications:
Talcott Resolution is currently seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to join our Operational Applications organization. Qualified candidates will have the following requirements:
• 10+ years’ experience in life insurance policy administration systems implementation and service; COLI/BOLI administration is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience
• Demonstrated leadership and expertise with software development, system requirements, testing, and quality assurance methodologies
• Visible passion for learning and applying technology along with the ability to readily share knowledge
• Willingness to learn new technologies and/or advancements within existing technologies as Talcott continues to expand and modernize aspects of our portfolio
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a requirement. Must be able to communicate with business users in non-technical terms and communicate the impacts of system changes to business partners
