Job Description

Location: San Jose, CA 
Department: Corporate Sustainability 
Reports To: Director, Sustainability Disclosure 

Job Type: Full-Time 

Job Overview: 

We are seeking a sustainability data and governance expert to join our corporate sustainability team. This individual will be responsible for building holistic ESG data management strategy, robust infrastructure, and strong governance, to ensure compliance with global disclosure regulations and deliver investor-grade, integrated reporting. This role will also support compliant reporting strategy and roadmap, gap assessments and closure, and stakeholder engagement.  

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of ESG reporting regulations (e.g. California SB253, SB261, AB1305, EU CSRD, UK CRFD, ISSB, etc.), combined with strong data management and analytical skills, and governance and control experience.  

Key Responsibilities: 

Sustainability regulatory compliance:  

  • Stay informed on the latest developments in global sustainability disclosure regulations and requirements. 

  • Support development of compliance strategies and roadmap. 

  • Support regulatory gap assessments and gap closure work streams, such as double materiality assessment, EU taxonomy analysis, and climate risk assessment and mitigation.  

  • Support compliant reporting development and submission. 

ESG data management and infrastructure: 

  • Own and continuously refine ESG strategy data, including risks and opportunities, materiality, and EU taxonomy data.   

  • Establish and evolve comprehensive ESG data management strategy and infrastructure based on regulatory requirements.  

  • Engage relevant teams and stakeholders to collect required data and ensure data integrity and completeness. 

  • Drive selection and implementation of ESG reporting tools, integration, and automation for integrated reporting purposes.  

ESG data governance and control:  

  • Develop and implement ESG data governance and control frameworks, including policies, methodologies, and procedures for data collection, validation, and reporting. 

  • Engage auditors and lead 3rd party assurance on all ESG related disclosures. 

  • Collaborate with Finance to integrate ESG data into annual management reporting and financial filings.  

  • Ensure that ESG-related commitments and claims are supported by robust analysis and action plans. 

Continuous improvements: 

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance data reporting efficiency and effectiveness on an ongoing basis, including potential use of AI tooling.  

  • Enhance data collection processes for voluntary reporting purposes, including annual sustainability reports, CDP, and S&P CSA.  

Provide high-quality, meaningful, and timely ESG data metrics for stakeholder engagement, executive presentation, and sales enablement purposes.  

Qualifications

Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Economics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Accounting, Finance, OR a similar field with quantitative coursework. Master’s degree is a plus. 

  • Advanced certifications or qualifications in sustainability (e.g., standards, ESG certifications) or finance (e.g. CFA) are a plus.
