Team Overview:
The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) department is dedicated to ensuring the wellbeing of all employees, contractors, and visitors across every project and site. They develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, risk assessments, and compliance with legal and industry standards. By fostering a strong safety culture and promoting environmental responsibility, the HSE team plays a critical role in protecting people, reducing incidents, and supporting sustainable business practices throughout Alternative Heat.

Role Overview:
With projected growth, we are seeking a proactive HSE Manager to lead and manage all health, safety, and environmental aspects/teams across these projects, to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and promote a culture of safety & wellbeing throughout our operations. 

The candidate will work closely with our in-house teams throughout client engagement and all construction stages to deliver suitable HSE management arrangements, to meet both client/legal requirements to ensure the safe on site delivery of district heating systems and energy saving solutions. 

In addition to maintaining our current standards, they will be expected to drive continual improvements through established and  innovative means, with a strong focus on behavioral safety. 

Leading by example to cultivate a strong safety culture within the team and across projects, inspiring commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence. 

The Health, Safety & Environmental Manager will establish themselves as our Irish client’s main point of contact for HSE matters, through Office and site-based visits in order to build strong client relationships and support functions. 
The HSE Manager, will report to the Head of Health & Safety, and will work closely with project delivery teams, client representatives, and the wider HSE team to ensure a safe, compliant, and sustainable operating environment in a rapidly expanding market sector.

What You'll be Doing

 Lead and continuously improve Health, Safety, and Environmental strategy for decarbonisation projects across multiple sites in Ireland, ensuring compliance with legal, industry, and client requirements through robust policies, audits, risk assessments, and performance reporting. Provide expert HSE guidance across all project phases, lead incident investigations, facilitate client audits, and collaborate closely with operations, subcontractors, and stakeholders to embed safe and sustainable working practices. Build, develop, and manage a high-performing HSE team by recruiting, training, mentoring, and allocating resources effectively, while promoting strong communication, accountability, and consistent standards as the business expands into new European regions.
